This Diwali, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plans to give a special gift to home buyers – the 2016 Housing Scheme.
The land development agency is likely to launch its latest scheme around the festival of lights, which falls in October-end this year, a period considered auspicious for buying or booking a new home.
There will be 12,000 flats on offer, most of them in Rohini, Dwarka, Narela, Vasant Kunj and Jasola.
“Preparations for the launch of the scheme are underway and we expect to announce it by the end of October,” said a senior DDA official working on the scheme.
“Out of the 12,000 flats, 10,000 are those that were surrendered by allottees of the 2014 scheme. The rest are flats that have not been previously allotted for different reasons or cancelled,” he said.
The upcoming scheme will not offer many new flats and a chunk of them will be one-bedroom LIG (Lower Income Group) flats.
The land development agency had conducted a survey of its inventory sometime ago to get an exact number of flats that are lying vacant, for which site verifications were also conducted.
The latest housing scheme of the DDA will see a few firsts.
For one, the DDA is going to introduce different slabs of registration fees.
To apply for LIG flats, applicants will have to submit Rs. 1.5 lakh as security deposit. The registration fee for Middle Income Group (MIG) and Higher Income Group (HIG) flats will be Rs. 5 lakh, a five-fold hike from the usual registration fee charged by the DDA.
The DDA also plans to make the entire process online. “The plan is to make the entire process online, from buying brochures to applying for flats and payments,” said a senior DDA official, who didn’t wish to be named.
“However, we have to be sure that the online process is carried out without any technical glitch,” he added.
The proposals to take the housing scheme completely online and the hike in the registration fee are expected to be discussed for approval in the next meeting of the authority.
