The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation added a new life in L Zone areas with Phase 3 metro in South West Delhi. The phase 3 project has gone a step ahead with the completion of tunneling on the under construction Dwarka-Nahafgarh corridor (Line 9). After making a 0.67 KM i.e. 555 rings long tunnel from the site Sai Baba Mandir of Nazafgarh, the 400 metric Tunnel Boring Machine emerged at Najafgarh retrieval shaft near Tura Mandir. The tunneling on this stretch began on November 9 last year and has ended on June 27th this year. The depth of the tunnel below the ground surface ranges from 6.1 meter to 10.5 meter.
The Phase 3 metro will not only ensure greater connectivity to L zone areas but will also reduce congestion on roads, air pollution and emission of fuels. It is expected there will be around 4.808 million tones reduction in carbon dioxide by 2025.
With Phase 3 and Phase 4 metro, MPD 2021 will step another level and large part of this has been possible through Land Pooling Policy. The phase 4 metro will have six corridors. For further information about Phase 4,
